On Alabama Recovery Advocacy Day, we want to celebrate the men and women who share their time, energy and compassion every day to help others find recovery and support for substance use disorder.
The Alabama Opioid Overdose and Addiction Council was commissioned by Governor Kay Ivey in 2017 to formulate a comprehensive strategic plan to abate the opioid crisis. We want to recognize that much has been accomplished to date. At the same time, we know there is much more work that lies ahead.
Governor Ivey's administration, our state agency leaders and our legislators have a major role to play in supporting legislation and vital recovery services. Alabama's communities are better served when those serving on the front lines in providing recovery services can connect with these key leaders.
